On our way from Vienna to Nuremberg, we again went past Melk, but this time stopping in Passau. This was one of the places hit hardest by the flood on the Danube.
Here is a photo that shows historic flood levels. Near the top is one from the year 1501. Above that is a hand-written mark for the 2013 flood. The darker color also shows the level of the most recent flood.
Clock towers are big in Europe. Here is a very nice example from Passau.
Passau in on the Austria/Germany border, and very close to the Czech Republic. After lunch in Passau, our bus left for Nuremberg, where we would spend the next three nights.
