In June of 2011, Bill, Darel, Glenn, Ken, and Tom biked the Katy Trail in Missouri.
In June of 2014, the same group plus Mike, Roger, and another Tom but minus Bill biked the Mickelson Trail in South Dakota. We met in Deadwood on Monday and ate dinner at a nice restaurant owned by Kevin Costner. Three drove Mike’s F350 to Mystic and started on the trail headed north towards Deadwood. The rest of us started south from Deadwood to Mystic, then drove the F350 to Hill City, where we met the rest of our group. We climbed about 1800 feet in elevation over a 15-mile stretch, then downhill another 19 miles to Mystic. The hills were green and the scenery was spectacular.
On the second day, the groups were scrambled slightly and we rode between Mystic and Custer. The Crazy Horse Memorial is visible from the bike route.
The third day was 45 miles, mostly downhill, as all of us rode together from Custer to Edgemont.
